BACKGROUND
The Grand Ridge staff met as
a team in June and developed
the current class
assignments based on the
following criteria:
1.
Input from parents
2.
Input from your
child’s last teacher
3.
A balanced ratio of
boys and girls
4.
Achievement levels
5.
Behavior factors when
applicable
6.
Compatibility of
students with others, i.e.
separating students who have
not worked well together
7.
Independent work
habits
8.
Leadership skills
9.
Social needs
10.
Recommendations from
Guidance Teams,
psychologist, or counselor
when applicable.
PROCESS FOR REQUESTING A
CLASS CHANGE
TIMELINE
In order to give the
children, the teachers, and
the parents ample
opportunities to adjust to
the current placement,
the process may be initiated
no sooner than September 28,
2009.
The following steps should
be taken:
1.
Parents and teachers meet to
problem solve.
2.
If concerns continue, the
Student Placement Review
form needs to be completed.
This form is located on the
back of this page.
3.
The request for change in
assignments will be
evaluated by the building’s
Guidance Team. Grade level
teams may also be involved.
Parents will be involved in
the Guidance Team process.
