February School-Wide Letter Writing –It’s here!
During February students will be encouraged to write letters to other students and staff. These letters will be “mailed” in Grand Ridge mailboxes that are placed throughout the school. To supplement their study of communities, second grade classes will sort and deliver the mail on February 8, 11, 12, 14, and 15. Thank you for your support of authentic writing opportunities such as this one! Due by Friday, February 15th.
2008 Kindergarten Registration: If your child will be 5 years old by August 31, 2008, mark your calendar....Kindergarten registration at Grand Ridge will be on March 5th from 1:30pm - 6:00pm and March 6th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Remember to bring a birth certificate, proof of residency (utility bill, lease/rental agreement, or purchase documents.
Standard 10 Testing Reminder: The Stanford 10 Achievement Testing will take place at Grand Ridge the week of February 4-8. Specific information about Stanford 10 subtests by grade level is available on the district website at http:www.issaquah.wednet.edu/district/departments/assessment/standfordasp
Health Room News
Scoliosis Screening – RESCHEDULED
Due to the weather on Monday and school being cancelled we did not have the 5th grade scoliosis screening as planned.
The new date for the screening is February 11th. Contact Terry Ostendorf, school nurse with questions. 425-837-7930.
Just a friendly reminder that it is cold and flu season at Grand Ridge.
Please keep your child home if he/she has any of these symptoms:
Diarrhea-more than one episode in a 24 hour period
Vomiting-within the past 24 hours
Rash-not associated with heat or allergic reactions to medications
Drainage from the eye
Appearance/Behavior-unusually tired, pale, lack of appetite, difficult to wake, or irritable
Sore Throat-especially if associated with fever or swollen glands
Fever-over 100 degrees F orally. Temperature should remain normal 24 hours before returning to school
Yellow or greenish nasal discharge
The most important thing you can do to prevent illness from spreading is for you and your child to wash your hands often.

Sammamish Chamber of Commerce
The Sammamish Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a logo contest for the Sammamish Farmers Market. The Market opens May 21, 2008 at the Sammamish City Hall Plaza. Entries must be received by February 15th, 2008, at 5pm. The winning entry will receive a cash award of $250 and recognition as the artist in special events and future publications.
