Principal’s Corner:

Dear Families,

Thank you for the tremendous attendance at our Curriculum Night on Wednesday. I enjoyed meeting and visiting with you during the evening. Beginning on October 4th, I will be hosting a Coffee/Tea with Principal every Thursday from 9:15-10:15 in our Conference Room. This is a great time to ask questions and meet new people. We have a wonderful group of children and parents in our school. We certainly look forward to working with you as we begin the 2007-08 school year.

Respectfully,

Barb Walton

Principal

Dr. Rasmussen is Coming to a PTSA Meeting Near You: New superintendent Steve Rasmussen is hitting the road and coming to a PTSA meeting near you! The district’s high school PTSA groups have invited him to a September membership meeting to talk about himself and his goals for the district. He will also answer audience questions. Everyone throughout the district is welcome to attend and get to know “the real Steve”. The next meeting will be held at: Skyline High School, 1122 228th Ave. S.E., Sammamish on Monday, Sept. 24, 7:30 P.M.

Bus Passes: Passes will only be issued for established bus routes with enough room. Parents must send a written request to the office asking for a pass for their child, the name of the child they are going home with, and the bus number. A note from a parent to obtain a bus pass is also required if your child will be riding their regular bus but getting off at a different stop. Passes are issued on a first come first served basis.

Family Math Newsletters: Parents, you can access math newsletters by clicking on the link below. From there you click on the title for each math unit’s letter. This is a valuable resource that includes tips and strategies along with answers to student assignments. Thank you for supporting your child’s math learning at home.  Click here: www.wrightgroup.com/index.php/home/everydaymathematics/emthirdedition/familyletters/692?SID+4348

School Safety: Keeping students safe at Grand Ridge is a top priority. We appreciate your help and care as you travel to and from school on our streets and in our parking lots. For a review of safety tips and procedures for Grand Ridge please click here.

School Hours, 9:15-3:38: Please honor our student learning time and refrain from checking out your student early. Keep in mind, if even 1% of the Grand Ridge population picks up their student early we are calling the classrooms 75 times a day. This is a huge interruption to the learning of all our students.

Library Volunteer Training:  If you are a volunteer in the Grand Ridge Library please plan to attend a training Wednesday, September 26, 3:00-3:30. This meeting is short, but could last longer depending on the time required to practice working at the circulation station. If you are volunteering please sign-up to indicate you will be attending the training.

Pre-Approved Absences:  All absences due to vacation and/or religious holidays must be pre-approved. Please come to the office and complete a request form, or email Jill at paxtonj@issaquah.wednet.edu

Kitchen News: Please be sure to verify that your child has lunch money to purchase lunch here at school. This can be done by sending money to school (labeled with your child’s name and lunch number), OR through www.mylunchmoney.com . Unfortunately Food Services is no longer able to extend charges to students.

VOICE Mentor Program (Volunteers Of Issaquah Changing Education):

The VOICE Mentor Program is looking for community volunteers to work one on one with Issaquah students.  Click here for more information.

Need an Absentee Ballot?: If you are in need of an absentee ballot application you can find the forms you need by visiting the King county Elections website at www.metrokc.gov/elections/absentee.htm#ongoing
